The CanvasCamp Ultimate Tent series—also known as the Traveller—is a cost-conscious collection crafted with Tentex® PC28, a durable cotton canvas/recycled polyester blend developed for the outdoor industry. The Ultimate series is designed with low maintenance in mind, making it ideal for the occasional camper. This 4-season series provides all the premium features of our ProTech line while delivering outstanding value, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free camping experience.
- Tentex® Polycotton Fabric (285 gr/m²): The Ultimate/Traveller Tent series is crafted with Tentex® PC28, a durable 50/50 polycotton canvas developed for the outdoor industry.
- Added Protection: The canvas is treated to be UV-resistant, fade-resistant, water-repellent, and mold and rot-resistant, all while maintaining breathability. This coating is integrated into the fabric fibres before production, ensuring lasting protection for your tent. 100% cotton canvas naturally waterproofs and breathes; internal moisture is able to escape through the fabric, reducing humidity and minimizing condensation inside.
- Double Stitching: The durability of the cotton is enhanced through double stitching, flat-felled seams, seam gussets, and double-layer configuration along stress points.
- Roll-Up Side Walls (23.6") & Detachable Heavy-duty Groundsheet (480 gr/m²): The groundsheet is made of rip-stop, thermally welded PVC that is both water and vapour impermeable, with a 4-inch high bathtub design (scooped upward) to keep you dry. The groundsheet is attached to the tent walls with a heavy-duty (size 10) zipper, allowing you to unzip the floors and roll up the walls, using the canvas as a shade to let the fresh air in.
- Integrated No-see-um Screens on Doors: Every tent features a sewn-in no-see-um mesh door alongside the traditional canvas door. Loops on either side allow the mesh door to be neatly tied back when not in use.
- No-see-um Windows (4) & Vents (3-4): Each tent features windows and vents with no-see-um mesh for bug-free ventilation. The half-moon windows have zip-up covers for adjustable ventilation and privacy, with loop fasteners to hold the covers when unzipped. The 400 size comes equipped with 4 windows and 3 vents and the 450-500 sizes come equipped with 4 windows and 4 vents.
- Quality Stakes (9.5") & Pegs: Made from high-quality nickel-plated steel, our heavy-duty stakes and pegs are built for high wind and hard ground. The pegs are 50% thicker than your run-of-the-mill pegs and hooked-shaped to hold the floor securely in place.
- Spring-loaded Centre (1.25") & A-Frame Door Poles (0.88"): Made from hardy nickel-plated steel, you can rely on our poles to keep your tent standing tall in blustery winds.
- Guylines (5mm) and Tensioners: Setup is simple with the heavy-duty guylines, pre-attached to the tent and threaded through the tensioners. Upgraded with 5mm thick corded nylon and UV treatment, these lines adjust easily. Unbreakable plastic tensioners prevent wear, extending the life of your tent.
- Electrical Access: A small, covered opening is built into the groundsheet to run an electrical cord into the tent.
- Tent Stove Compatible
When you buy one of our tents, you get the canvas tent with protection applied, guylines with tensioners, guyline stakes, poles (a-frame door pole and centre pole), groundsheet, groundsheet pegs, and a carrying bag.
Consider buying one of our tent footprints to minimize disassembly time and to keep your groundsheet in mint condition, especially if you’ll be camping frequently on muddy or soggy terrain. (A regular tarp will work too.) While not essential, the most common add-ons include a tent fly for rain/dirt or a tent fly for UV, and the canopy shelter (which acts as a vestibule). And get ahead of tent maintenance by pre-purchasing our canvas cleaner, stain remover, and re-waterproof treatment (check out our canvas care guide for more details).

Easy 15 Minute Setup
The first time you set up your tent, expect it to take about 20 to 25 minutes with two or three people. Once you get the hang of it, though, you should have it up in about 15 minutes with two people.

FAQ
Is the tent good for all seasons?
All of our tents are designed for 4-season use!
That said, our ProTech line features a thicker cotton canvas, superior protection, and sturdier poles, meaning they outlast our Ultimate line in prolonged exposure to the elements.
Better yet, our Apex line boasts our Tentex® C36 technical cotton canvas/tarpaulin for intense use in all weather conditions and seasons.
And don’t be fooled—if you’re taking these tents out in the shoulder seasons or winter, you’ll likely require a tent stove.
And remember, you should never leave your tent unattended for days at a time, especially in inclement weather as ice and snow can build up on the tent and damage the poles and canvas.

What makes this a quality tent?
We only sell the highest quality canvas tents on the market produced by the only tent manufacturer with the Seal of Cotton label. The OG of canvas tents.
Many high-quality features set ours apart; from the heftiness of our zippers (size 10), heavy-duty nickel-plated stakes and poles, the thickness of the canvas and quality of the UV/mold/water resistant treatment, to the method of manufacturing and assembly (double stitching, flat-felled seams). Just to name a few. Together, these features all contribute to the tent’s performance and lifespan.
How long for a newbie to set it up?
The first time you set up your tent, expect it to take about 20 to 25 minutes with two or three people. Once you get the hang of it, though, you should have it up in about 15 minutes with two people.
If I leave it out all year will I get mold?
Cleaning and re-treating your canvas tent regularly will keep your tent looking new by fending off both UV damage and the potential for any mold. We recommend cleaning and re-treating your tent after 6-10 weeks of use; the harsher the environment, the more frequent we recommend cleaning and re-treating.

Can it handle high winds and more extreme weather?
Absolutely! CanvasCamp's Sibley tents have been wind tested and rated. Tests have shown that when the tents are properly pitched, staked, and tensioned, a 400 can withstand winds up to 120 km/h, the 500 up to 95 km/h, and 600 up to 80 km/h. It is recommended that the Sibley 700 and 800 should be taken down in strong wind.
Plus, our heavy-duty stakes & pegs are made from high-quality nickel-plated steel and are specifically built for high wind and hard ground. The pegs are 50% thicker than your run-of-the-mill pegs and hooked-shaped to hold the floor securely in place.
In addition, our spring-loaded poles are made from hardy nickel-plated steel so you can rely on our poles to keep your tent standing tall in blustery winds.
How easy is it to install a stove inside it?
It’s extremely easy to attach your stove and all of our tents are stove-compatible with our modular stove jacks (sold separately). Check out our blog post here for step-by-step instructions.
Is there a warranty?
All of our tents sold as new come with a limited, 1-year warranty with valid proof of purchase against manufacturing defects.
What do I need to make sure my tent lasts for years to come?
Like any other high-quality purchase—like a car or a house—proper maintenance is required (it’s easy, we promise) to maximize the performance and longevity of your tent. Tent care is based upon three principles:
- A well-pitched tent.
- A clean tent.
- A taught tent.
These principles are especially important in any hash conditions – e.g., damp, windy, snowy, etc. – to avoid leaks or damage to the tent. CanvasCamp applies just the right amount of treatment to their tents to simultaneously optimize tent performance and tent breathability (so that you don’t feel ‘sticky’ inside the tent) – it’s a balancing act.
