The 600 Twin is the Cadillac of tents, combining two of our Pro line bell tents via a ridge pole, which connects the two centre poles. The oval floor plan creates two separate rooms with a centralized lounge area and the cathedral-like ceilings create a spacious interior. This model comes with a front door and a side door for easy access. Plus, thanks to the thickness of the canvas and its treatment, the 600 Twin Pro — perfect for large-group camping and events — is designed for high-performance use and extended UV exposure.

Double Stitched & Waterproof

All of our canvas tents are double stitched and waterproof. While cotton has natural waterproofing properties, we have added a proprietary treatment to enhance water resistance. Made to weather all 4 seasons for years to come.

FAQ

Is the tent good for all seasons?

All of our tents are designed for 4-season use!

That said, our Pro and ProTech lines are made with a thicker cotton canvas and higher grade of protection – meaning that they will outperform our Ultimate line when it comes to the Canadian elements.

Better yet, our Apex line boasts our Tentex® C36 technical cotton canvas/tarpaulin for intense use in all weather conditions and seasons.

And don’t be fooled – if you’re taking these tents out in the shoulder seasons or winter, you’ll likely require a tent stove.

And remember, you should never leave your tent unattended for days at a time, especially in inclement weather as ice and snow can build up on the tent and damage the poles and canvas.

Make sure to check out our winter camping blog post and our canvas care guide for more tips.

What makes this a quality tent?

We only sell the highest quality canvas tents on the market produced by the only tent manufacturer with the Seal of Cotton label. The OG of canvas tents.

Many high-quality features set ours apart; from the heftiness of our zippers (size 10), heavy-duty nickel-plated stakes and poles, the thickness of the canvas and quality of the UV/mold/water resistant treatment, to the method of manufacturing and assembly (double stitching, flat-felled seams). Just to name a few. Together, these features all contribute to the tent’s performance and lifespan.  More details below:

  • Thick 100% cotton fabric: Our tents are made from 100% cotton, a strong, long-lasting material that blends into natural surroundings. The thickness of the canvas and treatment applied to our tents can withstand harsh climates and high-performance use.
  • Double stitching: The durability of the cotton is enhanced through double stitching, flat-felled seams, seam gussets, and double-layer configuration along stress points.
  • Natural waterproofing: While cotton has natural waterproofing properties, we have added a proprietary treatment to enhance water resistance.
  • Mold and UV resistant: Our tents are finished with treatment to fend off mold and UV damage.
  • Roll-Up Side Walls and Detachable Heavy-duty Groundsheet: The groundsheet is made of rip-stop, thermally welded PVC that is both water and vapour impermeable, with a 4-inch high bathtub design (scooped upward) to keep you dry. The groundsheet is attached to the tent walls with a heavy-duty (size 10) zipper, allowing you to unzip the floors and roll up the walls, using the canvas as a shade to let the fresh air in.
  • Electrical access: A small, covered opening is built into the groundsheet to run an electrical cord into the tent.
  • Premium bug mesh screens: Equipped with micro-weave screens to keep the critters out and let the fresh air in.
  • Quality Stakes & Pegs: Made from high-quality nickel-plated steel, our heavy-duty stakes and pegs are built for high wind and hard ground. The pegs are 50% thicker than your run-of-the-mill pegs and hooked-shaped to hold the floor securely in place.
  • Spring-loaded poles: Made from hardy nickel-plated steel, you can rely on our poles to keep your tent standing tall in blustery winds.

How long for a newbie to set it up?

The first time you set up your tent, expect it to take about 20 to 25 minutes with two or three people. Once you get the hang of it, though, you should have it up in about 15 minutes with two people.

If I leave it out all year will I get mold?

Cleaning and re-treating your canvas tent regularly will keep your tent looking new by fending off both UV damage and the potential for any mold. We recommend cleaning (and re-treating) your tent after 10 to 12 weeks of use; the harsher the environment, the more frequent we recommend cleaning and re-treating.

Here’s how to clean your canvas tent (when pitched):

  • Clear any debris from the interior and exterior of the tent
  • Hose down the tent
  • Apply a 4:1 water: vinegar solution, or a canvas cleaning product – like Esker – (following their instructions). We do not recommend any household detergents or bleaches as they could ruin the cotton fabric. High-pressure washers and washing machines are also out of the question! That said, using a lower setting on a pressure washer (with vinegar or a canvas-friendly cleaner added to the machine) can be an efficient way to clean the tent. Make sure to spot-check on the fabric to prevent damaging the tent. The groundsheet and poles can be cleaned with any cleaner or disinfectant.
  • Gently clean the fabric with a soft sponge and rinse as you go.
  • Let dry, then re-treat immediately.

Can it handle high winds and more extreme weather?

Absolutely! Our heavy-duty stakes & pegs are made from high-quality nickel-plated steel and are specifically built for high wind and hard ground. The pegs are 50% thicker than your run-of-the-mill pegs and hooked-shaped to hold the floor securely in place.

In addition, our spring-loaded poles are made from hardy nickel-plated steel so you can rely on our poles to keep your tent standing tall in blustery winds.

All of our tents are designed for 4-season use! That said, our Pro and ProTech lines are made with a thicker cotton canvas and higher grade of protection – meaning that they will outperform our Ultimate line when it comes to the Canadian elements. And for those really cold winters, we recommend a tent stove.

How easy is it to install a stove inside it?

It’s extremely easy to attach your stove and all of our tents are stove-compatible with our modular stove jacks (sold separately).

Is there a warranty?

All of our tents sold as new come with a limited, 1-year warranty with valid proof of purchase against manufacturing defects.

Any tent determined to be defective will be repaired to working order or replaced with the same or similar model at our discretion.

The cost of return shipping for warranty items is the customer’s responsibility.  The cost of delivery for repaired or replaced tents under warranty will be covered by CitizenCanvas.

This warranty does not cover zippers, ordinary wear and tear from use or damage arising from (but not limited to): mold, mildew, spot leakage, pole failure not caused by defective workmanship, ultraviolet exposure, fire, stove/air conditioner use, improper use/assembly/storage or inclement weather conditions (as can be expected in Canada).

This warranty is void with modification, alteration, or the use of certain cleaning, treatment, or colouring agents. CitizenCanvas makes no other warranty express or implied and shall not be liable for consequential or incidental damage or injury arising from the use of CitizenCanvas products. It is the responsibility of the customer to practice care in the great Canadian outdoors. We do not refund customers for damaged products due to inclement weather so stay on top of weather forecasts, never leave your tent unattended, and practice common sense outdoors.  CitizenCanvas and our manufacturing partner CanvasCamp cannot be held liable for any damage or injury to persons or property resulting from the use or misuse of fire or flammable material. CitizenCanvas is not responsible for misuse of stoves or stove jacks, including the use of our stove jacks with any uninsulated flue (not recommended) or a third-party stove. Refunds will not be made in these circumstances.

What do I need to make sure my tent lasts for years to come?

Like any other high-quality purchase – like a car or a house – proper maintenance is required (it’s easy, we promise) to maximize the performance and longevity of your tent. Tent care is based upon three principles:

  • A well-pitched tent.
  • A clean tent.
  • A taught tent.

These principles are especially important in any hash conditions – e.g., damp, windy, snowy, etc. – to avoid leaks or damage to the tent. CanvasCamp applies just the right amount of treatment to their tents to simultaneously optimize tent performance and tent breathability (so that you don’t feel ‘sticky’ inside the tent) – it’s a balancing act.
